Paradise Lost . . .

Defiance (Black Idol), 1900-1903
FrantiĊĦek Kupka

Where do we go from here?
We have landed in an unkempt paradise . . .
perhaps it's karma that keeps us so lost . . .
remember when we daydreamed on the hammock
under the canopy of trees . . .
and yet they gracefully moved their branches,
leafs fluttered away
like migrant birds . . .
so we could see the stars at night
and we . . . so naively . .
making wishes on the lights that flew
across the ebony flanks of the sky god?
Remember the idols we made of mud . .
that dripped from our hands as we plastered
our gods with the soil of our desires . . .
they are buried like our dreams
in the caverns of our souls. .
left to melt beneath an incessant dripping
of hollow water . . . mingling with the blood
that runs through our hearts .. . .
and we
we are lost in our wilderness . . . wandering
wandering . ..  wanting to hold
once more . . . what we have loved . . .
I see so many of the children of my time
drifting, with glazed eyes . ..  their claws reaching
for each glossy fruit dangling from the vines . . .
they are mesmerized by their reflections
in the shine, believing that these are signs
of value and worthiness . . .  perhaps eternal grace . . .
I see these children raveled and twined in thorny green . . .
biting into rotten cores of shallow fruits,
their lips trembling with
a desire never satiated . .
I am now, merely a faded fossil . . .
slowly sinking into a passionless embrace . . .
where flesh meets earth . .  becoming one . ..
a lonely nothing . .. who screams with a voice
so silenced . . . a warning never heard . . .
behold the poison of our time . . .
beware the will of self-destruction .  ..

Are You Real?

When I passed through your world . . .
did I leave anything behind?
my heart maybe . .
a single tear?
a dream .. . a song . . .

once upon a time
a bird flew through an open window
leaving a melody . .
and a single blue feather . ..
there in my hand . . . and I saw through the misty distance . .
as if it was yesterday . . . a heartbeat away . . .

Somewhere
I left a simple memory
of laughter . . . and pictures . . .
wishes . . . and a purple balloon . . .
rising in the air above a river
winding sinuously . . .  slowly . .
her waters tossing the sunlight
in sparkles and shadows
into your dreamy eyes . ..

your world . .  a magical land
where the stars bloom
like daisies on a sacred expanse . . .
a place of angels and goddesses . . .
their edges and smiles worn away by ancient passages
of an entity called Time . . .

a distant land
where a fisherman walks on water .  .
where we found hidden kingdoms growing
out of amber and burgundy cliffs,
and valleys so deep
they echo with the fall of dew . . .
and there we found . ..
ambrosial wines and cheeses . .
and a lonely old mamma . . . a goddess
sitting on the green . . .
with an eternal smile between her withered cheeks . .
and in the morning the sunflowers
stretch to the blue skies from their lush valleys . . .
and in the morning the birds
fly higher and higher . . . like ashes wafted
into the streaming clouds . . .

we walked along the
hills which grasped the lazy waters
between their bosoms . .
and I heard their secret sigh
ascending through cavernous deeps . .
their song rising up . . .
from the shadowy beating heart
of the planet . .
a throbbing heat . . .
a dull red glow . ..
a place between us . . . you and I . . .
you walk on the one side
and I on the other . . .
forever we are connected
by streams of moving memories . . .

- an orangeupurple dedication (and thank you)  to van syla . . .  a dear friend.

The aerie of the eagle
beyond the reach of the dreaming one . . .
is touched by the song
of the piano .. . which music will fly
and take the listener
. . . on the wings of an eagle
 . . . higher and higher
 and higher still
. . . where we touch the stone
that splits the mountain
. . . spilling the richness of the sea,
gathering all the stars of the heavens,
having and holding it all
 . . . yet giving it freely
to the dreamer with the outstretched arms,
who is part of the glory
. . . and the beginning and end
of an eternal story . . .

Wishes . . .

is this where we are?
adrift in the universe through time . .
and our mind?
there is no map to these moments
                                                           of our existence . . .
we just stumble on ahead
                            traveling through our days,
blindly and like fools. . .
                                      seldom another
               will find ingress through
our thick atmospheres . . . perhaps
                                     a glancing connection . . .
somewhere
and thus we learn
how alone we really are . . .
and always will be so . . .
yet we work so hard to build that bridge
to other isolated souls
and there we look into their
                                tear filled eyes
only to find
that reflection of our single self
                              lonely and still alone
so we stumble on .  .
                            taking our dream,
our intense longing
                                     of being loved
and loving . . ..

 Nostalgia
by mystic soulmate

I look for you all the days of my life . . .
as once you were to me . . .
a song, perhaps a melody . . .
a feather in the breeze . .
I heard the song of the willow tree
as she bent before the wind . .
oh where oh where
is my love today . . .
oh where oh where
is my dream
We danced beneath that lacy tree
by the side of a silvery stream . . .
and watched the singing stars gather
on that sheet of velvety black .. .
each one was an answered dream . . .
one for you and one for me . . .
so we danced the night together
'til the sun stroked the billowing breast
of the tender and lavender sky . . .
oh where oh where
is my love today . . .
oh where oh where
is my dream
where have those moments gone
from those days when we were in love?
I remember the sound of your voice
and the feel of your warm flesh . ..
I remember the tree where. . .
we held each other tight . . .
and the melody of the tinkling stream
where together we had that dream
I remember our love
on that beautiful star filled night. . .

oh where oh where
is my love today
oh where oh where
is my dream
