House . . .

Halcyon Hall *

I am lost in your hallways . ..
skylights ripped like scars
through your skin . .
you have no joy in me
as I wander through the night
leaving temporary imprints,
blood on your walls
I am but a memory that clings
like refuse . . . waiting to be blown
into the ever waiting skies . ..
a dream, a bit of wayward dust . . .
a glint of glass reflecting hope,
for esteem . . . I stand and yet
I crumble . .  slowly . .. minutely
momentarily away . . .
melting like seaweed
on endless shores . . .  I am lost
in your beauty . . .
I am lost to you .. .. .
I hear a hundred thousand voices
resounding like planets
across the plane of time . . .

the foot falls . . resonate. . .
sliding warily
through memories . . . woven in delicate
arches . ..  backs bent, straining against the pressure
that releases life . . .
a spare coin rolls downhill
like thunder's deep echo
the voice of a god speaking
hidden behind the next corner . .

beware of splinters
spearing deftly through the murmuring heart . . .
the fall of the house
frees the soul as pigeons
wing skyward
the timbers crash to the soil
and the stench of mildew
revives the community
to bury the body . .

Red Dragonfly

To lighten and brighten the mood . ..  This dragonfly was hanging on to the tallest branch in my yard, after taking several flights with a friend . ..  it would sit here sunning itself, the colors glinting from the wings were like fire, golden red fire with occasional glimpses of the rainbow . . . its little head would turn and look at me as I took several pictures . ..  but it posed magnificently:

* This picture of Halcyon Hall was NOT taken by me but was found on the Internet without notes regarding to the photographer. There are many pictures of this hall ( also known as Bennett College ) located in Millbrook NY . . . the latest pictures are of the collapsing in the middle section . . . it inspired me, this house, with its fancy face yet lost expression . . . its age and deterioration. . . its history . . .

A Spare Moment . . .

Sunflower and friends . . .

A bit of a sky brush
has pasted some thin
white clouds
across
the eyes of the rising sun,
as she searches the faces
of those who love her, and
a melody is performed
as wings
touch the breeze . ..
of a morning
full of tender peace
and aching with memories . . .

The man with the gentle dog
offers to cut the sunflower for me
just as my camera captures
that bright yellow face
to hold forever . ..
I was deeply moved by this stranger's
desire . . . to give me a smile . . .

. . . finding moments like these
strewn across my pathways
in an eternal heaven,
presents purpose and song,
like the meaning of stars
and the spirit of waterfalls . . .
like a gaze from the gods . . .
it covers my spirit with healing,
creating me anew . . .

and though I said "No, but thanks,"
I received the greatest treasure
a day could offer . . .
an endless space of love
in a tiny moment . . . .
where the clouds are but spare tear drops,
flung out like pearls,
to frame the beauty
of a flower
dancing eternally in the breeze . . .

A beautiful morning, and I walked part way into work . . . and decided to take pictures of the sunflowers before they faded completely away . . . I especially wanted the sunflowers growing against the back wall of the automobile repair shop . . . because I had seen them in their glory . . . but I was a little late . . . yet I saw one solitary bloom that was striking, and took its picture  . . . and the man with his dog, was cutting across the field and he offered to cut the flower for me . .. and I felt such a connection between souls . .. I explained that I loved to photograph flowers but don't care to keep the blooms themselves as I prefer they stay where they are . . . giving joy to other eyes . .

*****************************************************

I like this music . ..  it fills my day with serenity and peace .. . .it gives some bright bubbles of light which sparkle in my atmosphere and I am soothed . ..  it can play for hours without becoming old . . . and it influences my spirit to create . ..

I am Wolfsong.thePoet

Downtown Portland

I am Wolfsong.thePoet on Jamendo . . . http://www.jamendo.com/en/user/Wolfsong.thePoet

I like to write . . . especially poetry. . . I think in song . . . I dream in flavors . . . I recognize me in you . ..  and you in me . . . I hear your melody. . .  I see your beauty . . . I share your hope . . . I create your dreams . . . I will dance with you through tomorrow . . . and carry you deeply in my heart . . . I love you . . .

Forever yours
by Depneim

I look into the mirror of your eyes . . .
and I see the blazing light of faith,
calm and remarkable
in the hope that it projects
as you put your heart
on the winds of chance
and believe in the best . . .
and believe in love . . .
and believe that I have the same
for you . . . love on the wing
flying straight into your eyes . . .

The music offers imagery
and beauty and love . . .
it offers color . . . and joy
and peace . . . it offers the heights
and the depths
and it walks besides me
where ever I go
and where ever I end . . .

a gorgeous blessing in the moment

I am humbled by this sound . .
as it whirls through my heart
a music so deeply calming

surreal, eerie . .  other-worldly . ..
beauty
sublime . ..  heavenly . .
the tears begin to fall . .. I want to be in that place
the music takes me there . . .
a cold and distant land . . .
so tender, so treasured . . .
the sighing of the angels . . . resound through the atmosphere
and only the musician can hear this
and model it . ..
I am moved . . .  I am moved so far away
I ache as I listen to this music . . .
my bones vibrate as I listen
my heart echoes . .  the music
I cannot but treasure this . . . like a gem . . .
the rarest of the rare . .  a human face . . .
and angel's gaze .  . . the song of the moon . .
the tender refrain of the stars . . .
immersed in the music .  . . I float for hours .  .  .

Some Music and a Game!

Album cover . . . for "Memories" by Van Syla

 Some Favorite Music of Mine:

I don't want to brag or anything, but a friend of mine used one of my sea pictures for her album . . . OH and the music is especially good . . .

My Review: I always look forward to a new album by Van Syla. Her music builds up my mood and I need her brand of musical sunshine in the depths of winter.

In this little album its hard to pick out a favorite because the songs are all so unique. I love "Memories" for its sentiment and drama . . . the strings are expressive and fulfilling . . . they give the wings to fly up and find the dream . . . this one is just plain beautiful . . . maybe this one is my favorite . . . hmmmm . . .

"Weekend" is a happy ride with a lilting guitar . . . just like I feel about the weekend coming up after a long hard week at work. Also, it has its contemplative moments . . . and makes me feel like not only is there happiness and anticipation . . . but planning and hope . . . lovely! Could be this is my favorite of the three . . . let me see . . ..

The beautiful piano in "Grandma's Song" seems simple . . . but has a complexity that tells a story . . . I hear a little of Van Syla's unique signature beat dancing through in this one . . . this one may be my favorite . . . I just can't seem to chose!

If I ever chose which one is my favorite . . . I will let you know . . . but I think they are all my favorites . . .

I have also been enjoying a couple of other lovely albums today:

And another artist I am especially fond of is Dom the Bear. Check out his offerings :

A Favorite Game of Mine:
Wall paper from the game of "Drifts"

Everyone needs to break away from the herd, now and then . . . and here is a way to do so, through relaxed and easy play . . . The game is called "Drifts," by bobblebrook and it is simply beautiful, a little challenging, and very relaxing . . . I like to play it with the sound turned off and listening to Jamendo music . . .

I love the way the administrators of the game gives everyone the chance
to be in the highscore list, as the high scorers are removed weekly . . . and the best part is the fact that the game uses my favorite color combination . . . even though the purple bubbles are the enemy. . . they don't chase your red/orange bubble . .. so they aren't that bad!  My only complaint is that there is no pause button .  .. but . . . oh well!

I was number 1 for a day!

OK - you ask: "What have games got to do with art? Isn't this a blog about art?"

My answer: "ummmm . . . there is an "art" to creating the perfect game . . . and besides "drifts" is very artistic as the shadowy painting in the background is very eye appealing. OK?"

So . . . occasionally I will drop by to share a favorite Internet game of mine .  .  . and I will try to make sure that it is artistic . . .

Frank Harper

Top of Frank's page with his song, "Would You"

This lovely page of Frank Harper's:  http://frankharper.bandcamp.com/track/would-you

On this evening I came home . . .  tired after a long day. And even after buying a new pair of shoes and taking another ton of sunset and Autumn color pictures, I was feeling very low, depressed even! But sometimes surprises happen when you least expect them, because I found a lovely email from Frank Harper, one of Jamendo's best, sharing a link to his web page where he had put, for free, a download of a song he had created for the album, Wolfsong's:
http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/70915
The song is called "Would You," a folk song with a gorgeous acoustic guitar, sung and played by Frank. He had used one of my poems for this song and on his web page he had created an album cover from a photograph of mine that he found here too . . .
http://orangeupurple.blogspot.com/2010/02/glorious-weekend.html
Well, Frank is such a talented musician . ..  with gifted fingers when he strums his guitar . . . I believe he could take anything and turn it into a beautiful song . . . but he said such kind things about me that it brought the tears to my eyes. . . and sharing this song like that on his blog is very heart touching and meant more to me than I could say.

Jamendo Friends and Children

I have found myself addicted to Jamendo (probably not a big secret) with a widening taste in musical genres (although I still cannot love 'rap') and a constant hunger for 'new' music. Since I have been a member of Jamendo I have made many new friends and have discovered many new sources of music.

One of my new friends, Christopher Jackson, goes by wildsage2 on his profile. I like his avatar which I hope he doesn't mind me revealing. He is also a musician and shares his lovely clarinet pieces on his own home page. Here is what he has to say about his music: "The first pieces chosen are short, lyrical works representing the early and middle Romantic period, and the 20th Century, followed by a completely new Sonata written for me which I believe deserves exposure. Although the works themselves are lesser know pieces, I believe they offer quality examples of the literature for the instrument."

Christopher gave me permission to share his music on my blog, so I decided to provide a link to his home page as it is also very interesting reading: http://www3.telus.net/wildsage2/index.html Click on the page labeled "The Clarinet" to enjoy his performances. There are more recordings located on the "In Days of Yore" page. Enjoy!

One of my favorite pages on Christopher Jackson's site is called "Stories from Childhood." His idea is that children have funny misunderstandings about situations in this grown-up world which are amusing to recount as an adult. I think everyone has a story to tell and Christopher says that he wants to hear them and may also share them on his site.

Well, here is my own personal contribution:

I loved Kindergarten and remember it as if it happened yesterday. I think those were my favorite days because I was blissfully naive.

Usually we were left to run about the neighborhood like wild colts, large herds of sunburned children, with no one to stymie our inquisitiveness and creative joy. We rarely caused any trouble. We would just gravitate to the nearest source of outrageous childish entertainment and adventure which was often occurring in the large park behind the grade school. I remember those days in primary colors of blue and green and bright yellow sunlight; in sounds of musical laughter, or the shouts of a baseball game in progress; in flavors of pink bubblegum and wild berries; in sensations of skinned knees and hot metal slides, oh how I miss those days. Good memories.

I looked forward to Kindergarten because I liked learning new things. Always have and always will. But - there they confined us like pet rabbits. We actually had a huge chain-link fence around the Kindergarten playground. Totally separated from the rest of the world. I remember hanging on to that fence, talking to my older friends on the outside in the big kids playground. We had stuff to play with in our little prison: a swing set, tricycles, toys, balls and other little kid items including an empty sandbox. Ah - that empty sandbox!

I think I liked the safe feel of confinement. That fence was strong and our teacher, Mrs. Blankenship, was firm but kindly. There were so many of us as we were the baby-boom generation. I think she had thirty-two children to teach and control.

One part of our daily routines was nap time. First we had our little snack, which consisted of a cracker and a tiny paper cup of juice. Then we tidied up and got out our little sleeping mats and put them down on the floor. We laid down and Mrs. Blankenship would turn off the lights and tell us, "Close your eyes and maybe the Sandman will come." I would dutifully close my eyes in great anticipation.

After nap time we would go outside and play. I would always race to the sandbox, only to discover that it was still empty. I remember, one day, standing there, by its side, looking down with another child commenting on its barrenness. "Why didn't the Sandman come? I closed my eyes" The other child sadly said that he did also, and we walked away.

I believe that I never actually had a restful nap in Mrs. Blankenship's class. I would squeeze my eyes shut as hard as I could and listen with sharp ears for the sound of the Sandman.

Edit with clarification:

". . .the pieces I perform (like the clarinet works to which you refer) are of course not my own compositions, but the work of other people - most in the public domain, and the Sonata written for me by a friend/colleague. You might want to clarify that in some way. It sounds as if "my music" includes those works, whereas on the site, my original works are "Drifting into Grey" and "Bromptons".
Thanks for your kind support.
