 Review for: "The beginning it's always difficult" by Radek Samson

This album is pure musical poetry . . .
as visual as masterpiece paintings, 
artistically created with a highly stable brush
full of all the colors of the spectrum .. .
painted with firmly controlled strokes . . . 
whether abstract or carefully defined . . . 
these musical paintings stunned and impressed me . . .  
they made my heart race and my breathing
match the momentum and tempo of the music . . . .
this artist is so highly talented
he is NOT to be missed . . . 

I saw armies marching, falling and getting up again . . .  I saw an ancient land rising and falling . . . I witnessed the garden of Eden . . . and on with more dramatic expressions, profound and beautiful . . . gorgeous waltzes full of life and sunlight . . . so many styles of music . . . so perfect . . . so delightful . . .

And my favorite on this album, though hard to chose was, "Irrationalis (2008)"  which introduced itself with sprinkles and tinkles of sound, then the flash of something in the distance and when the full storm of the orchestra rides over, like a thousand horsemen at full gallop . . . flying over my head, I nearly ducked. . .  dark clouds of fate raging before the winds . . . tremendously fulfilling . . .  profound music . . .

This music reads to me like a book . . .all of it . . . all the music on this album. "PianoConcerto, Spring 2008" sang to me like a tender lover . . .  the piano with so many emotions that the tears spilled from my eyes . . . how could I describe how such music touches my heart . . . I am speechless  with wonder!

This album contained music more stable yet just as dramatic and emotional as the last album. The songs were modernistic classically styled . . .  beautiful up-sweeping  symphonic . . . and heart touching.  They were all delightfully composed and so dynamic with articulate asides which made listening so interesting and fascinating . . . A story was told with each song, the momentum of the music driving visions through the mind of the listener. Powerful. . . and gorgeous sound quality.

This one has a remarkable flow to its jazzy/funky/world tracks. Initially I was attracted to the cover (My favorite color combination!) but I hesitated to listen because the album was so long and the nearly 50 tracks were so short . . .  but after listening and observing the nearly seamless connection between tracks I see that I must hear this as a whole . . .  the album flies through one song after the other and gave me the feeling that I was traveling through continents, oceans and islands . . .  over mountains, valleys and villages . . . and giving me the surreal feeling of listening to the the music of the world . . . 

Wonderful and unique . . . warm and sparkling, dynamic and smooth - I give it a ten!

"Emit was a cross between World and Island . . . with a stunning vocal . . .  definitely worth listening to . . . wow! "peewit" had a sense of suspense . . . and an ethereal yet powerful female vocal . . . I would follow that voice anywhere and the jazzy brass and restrained guitar . . . is effective and sustaining in its simplicity and became a song I want to listen to again and again . . . The percussive beginning to "restless" was intriguing and dynamic . . . the sound structure in this album is perfection and beauty . . . an artist worth following as he produces some extraordinary albums . . .

The music was extraordinary . . .

high with balance and song. . .
pregnant with power and strange mood. . .
foreboding and altruistic;
a warning comes to mind . . .

I especially loved the song "I'm Ready to Fly" which seemed to be partly poem and trance . .  . very striking . . . very moving . . .
And "Lucid Dream" which was most stunning in vivid colors and sound . . . a jazzy note is struck and carefully extended to the listener on wonderful waves of sound . . . This whole album is outstanding . . . like living in a dream . . .  with visions unparalleled with any fantasy, and voices of wisdom to share to the listening ear. . .

The story fascinates

The child in the poem is real . . . she sings to me every day - whenever she sees me . . . but she isn't the only child who gives me the gift of joy, peace, and love which are all balms against crabby old age . . .

Some Music and a Game!

 Some Favorite Music of Mine:

I don't want to brag or anything, but a friend of mine used one of my sea pictures for her album . . . OH and the music is especially good . . .

My Review: I always look forward to a new album by Van Syla. Her music builds up my mood and I need her brand of musical sunshine in the depths of winter.

In this little album its hard to pick out a favorite because the songs are all so unique. I love "Memories" for its sentiment and drama . . . the strings are expressive and fulfilling . . . they give the wings to fly up and find the dream . . . this one is just plain beautiful . . . maybe this one is my favorite . . . hmmmm . . .

"Weekend" is a happy ride with a lilting guitar . . . just like I feel about the weekend coming up after a long hard week at work. Also, it has its contemplative moments . . . and makes me feel like not only is there happiness and anticipation . . . but planning and hope . . . lovely! Could be this is my favorite of the three . . . let me see . . ..

The beautiful piano in "Grandma's Song" seems simple . . . but has a complexity that tells a story . . . I hear a little of Van Syla's unique signature beat dancing through in this one . . . this one may be my favorite . . . I just can't seem to chose!

If I ever chose which one is my favorite . . . I will let you know . . . but I think they are all my favorites . . .

A Favorite Game of Mine:

Everyone needs to break away from the herd, now and then . . . and here is a way to do so, through relaxed and easy play . . . The game is called "Drifts," by bobblebrook and it is simply beautiful, a little challenging, and very relaxing . . . I like to play it with the sound turned off and listening to Jamendo music . . .

I love the way the administrators of the game gives everyone the chance

to be in the highscore list, as the high scorers are removed weekly . . . and the best part is the fact that the game uses my favorite color combination . . . even though the purple bubbles are the enemy. . . they don't chase your red/orange bubble . .. so they aren't that bad!  My only complaint is that there is no pause button .  .. but . . . oh well!

I was number 1 for a day!

OK - you ask: "What have games got to do with art? Isn't this a blog about art?" 

My answer: "ummmm . . . there is an "art" to creating the perfect game . . . and besides "drifts" is very artistic as the shadowy painting in the background is very eye appealing. OK?"

So . . . occasionally I will drop by to share a favorite Internet game of mine .  .  . and I will try to make sure that it is artistic . . .
